I have no idea why people who own an iPhone 4/4S would buy the iPhone 5. Complete waste of money. I heard in the news about some guy who paid a couple of million to be the first person to own the iPhone 5 in the UAE How materialistic can you get?

The reason Samsung, Acer, Asus etc make many a year is because they target a broad range of customers from low end to high end. Apple most targets first world country people who have the cash to spend on high end phones.

I'd have to disagree.
The products that apple launches apply and appeal to a large consumer base. Roughly all if not more than android consumer base.


The prices on apple products are not that expensive compared to other devices. (minus computers)


The price range is huge. But I guarantee you only a handful are actually looking into Android based tablets that are 250 below.

On average the price range is anywhere from 350-500/600 dollars. A majority of iPad users end up doing a 32 gb and even more do a 16 gb.

Droid Razr cost $299 when it first came out also called a "iphone killer" like all other phones. Price point on phones when subsidized are always about 200 and below.

Even the S3 is 199 with a contract. Unlocked depending where you go is till about 550 to 680 dollars.

The Razr, S3 are both top end phones that the average consumers in non-first world country won't have.

Most people in the 3rd world countries or Developing countries don't have Iphones, Ipads, S3, Tablets etc. they most have those simple nokia, Sony Ericson, Samsung phones, or old models of the top end phones

a mid range to low end phones cost $100-$399. if not for contract subsized phones most people won't get the top end phones in even US and majority of 3rd countries don't have carriers that subsidize phones, most have to end up buying unlocked phones with sims

You realized that last year Apple "phased" out the 1000$ Macbook only to introduce a "new" macbook pro, which had the same specs as the next macbook would have had and you'd think they'd keep the same price point right?

It was released at 1200$. 200$ extra for adding Pro to the name. That defines Apple to me.

To put things into perspective, Laptops of the specs that Macbook had sold for 400$-600$

In Argentina due to import quotas an iPhone 4S or 5 will easily go for 2,000 USD. You could easily buy an iPhone, take it to Argentina, and pay for the ticket that way. Only problem is that you might get paid in pesos rather than dollars, since we also have restrictions on which currencies you can purchase.

this is nothing for a company like Samsung. if that's the level of fines they have to pay, they will continue infringing that copyright lol. last i checked Samsung has like 70 billions of cash reserve on hands

It was about $900 million at first but they reduced it. I actually don't care about the fine, for me it's more about that Samsung's image suffered since they basically admitted they're inferior to Apple. It's the bantz that counts

i dont really think it's a huge hit for their reputation, the bottom line is that they produce amazing products, and the galaxy line might have the best industrial design in phones today.

Don't these companies always lose patent wars against each other? Pretty sure Google, Apple and Samsung have like 50 billion patent suits and they all win and lose some.
