Re: Branislav 'Bane' Ivanovic
Should not be a starter for us anymore, but not the worst bench player to have. His age and longevity at the club as you alluded are obvious pluses as well.

Agreed, I'd like to see him replaced at RB and moved to back up CB/RB.
Having said that, I'd rather not see him leave, though.

Ivanovic signs new deal

http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2016/01/ivanovic-signs-new-deal.htmlChelsea Football Club is delighted to announce Branislav Ivanovic has signed a new one-year contract.
The defender, 31, was made vice-captain at the beginning of this season, and his new deal will now extend his stay to the summer of 2017.
Ivanovic (pictured above with technical director Michael Emenalo) said: ‘I am very happy to stay with Chelsea for another season. After eight years here this is my home and there is no other place I would rather play football.
‘I have enjoyed so much success since moving to the club and I am determined to help the team achieve more in the last months of this season and next year as well.’
Since arriving at Stamford Bridge in January 2008, Ivanovic has won every major club honour, including the Champions League and two Premier League titles, three FA Cups and one League Cup, as well as heading the winner in the 2013 Europa League final.
Ivanovic made his debut in September 2008, famously scoring his first goals away at Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-final the same season. In total he has made 341 appearances, finding the net 32 times.
Ivanovic wrote:"Means a lot, really, for me. I always say, I was born in Serbia, but made in Chelsea Football Club, as a player, as a person as well, so for me another huge and massive step in my career."

Re: Branislav 'Bane' Ivanovic
Sad to see him a leave but his last appearance for us was classic Bran. A fitting way to leave.
I will never forget his goal in the EL final or against Napoli
Thanks for everything, Bran!

Re: Branislav 'Bane' Ivanovic
ill def miss the guy, criticized him a bit but he came thru for a lot of our big games in the past, he was such an integral part of the past team. Sad to see that Terry is the last remaining old guard now

We're forming a new old guard, Courtois - Luiz - Azpilicueta - Kante - Costa.

Re: Branislav 'Bane' Ivanovic
A truly lovable and affable guy A true leader and warrior He was so good in his peak for us as well.
He came in 2008, Grant and Scolari didn't consider him at all, but when he broke into our line-up under Hiddink he made one hell of an impact.
I'd say he was comfortably WC in the Ancelotti's first season and the 2012-2014 timespan. When RDM came he started beasting it again, then he had a monster season under Benitez, then he was terrific in his first and a half year under Mou. Fell of a cliff after that though.
