I would have gladly accepted that punishment but there are considerable chances of me enjoying it so technically that wouldn't be a punishment. I must repent though.

Referees failed to protect Cristiano in this Euros tbh. It's a shame, and it corresponds with the cruel attitude of most fans towards him (the latter which also was at display here on GL in the absolute disregard of the jinxing consequences of reckless posting).
Already in the Poland game one hyped up Pole scrub tried to rip off his foot with a studs up challenge and no yellow was given.
I think Payet got away free too for this heavy assault without consideration for Cristianos physical integrity
