I lost a huge amount of respect for G.Nev when he slaughtered him after that Spurs game in Jan 2013. He set the ball rolling for every other schmuck journo to rip DDG apart in the media, despite our young keeper having a blinder of a season that year, and despite Hart dropping more clangers that season (but ofcourse G.Nev wouldn't have the guts to criticize an England colleague). smh

Proud and happy he has shoved every negative word said about him down the throats of all those who doubted him, and all those who wished he would fail for us.

Even G.Nev praises him now, even though he does it begrudgingly.

Look at this super video with David De Gea's greatest saves.

He's becoming a top goalkeeper, last season he improved his catching, decision making when to come for cross when not to. It looks so natural you wouldn't know he had problems with prior  to last season, if you hadn't watched him before. He's also started to iron out simple errors. This season, again, you can already see the improvement under van Gaal, De Gea is much more involved in the build up play, he's good under pressure, doesn't hoof it, always finds an outlet. He's also improving his timing, since we're more vulnerable to runs in behind, he has saved us a few times by coming out on time. Really, he is becoming such a complete goalkeeper.

And he was born in 1990; he is very young and the future seems bright for him. I hope the defense will be at his level this year! They have to be!

Thanks to our wretched season, his game improved by leaps and bounds. He must have realized that he should step up his game as our defense and midfield were fragile. And that added responsibility made him a better player.

His only match right now in the league is Courtois. And hopefully he will pip him come end of the season and will emerge as the best.

I remember when we were looking for new GK's and it was between De Gea and Steklenburg....as Neuer was already Bayern bound lol bullet dodged there

Courtois made a mistake in the second last match day for Atleti that nearly cost them the league, if that was De Gea we'd never hear the end of it

any United player does anything wrong, he becomes criminally underrated here and is permanently a shit player lol it is just the way it goes here

people think Phil Jones is a scrub even tho he is probably our best defender, but they haven't watched him play in 2 seasons so they don't know just love to hate

Surely has to be the Spanish no.1 now. Surely.

Our little boy David is growing up. If we want to see him more often in the first team of the NT of Spain we must support the club and believe in great results; he won't be selected if Man Utd will go down.

He needs to play in UCL next year and perform at the highest level in the best competitions.

Him and Phil Jones are in contract discussions according to The Times.

Still early days, but I think he has been poor this season.

Poor distributing.

Poor attempts at diving. He frigging stays rooted to the spot and just watches balls either fly into the goal or wide. Annoys me.

Poor communication at times- not too much though.

It doesn't help that he has a shambolic defence in front of him, but some of the goals we have conceded, I can't help but think he should be saving some of them, or be doing better.

Last season I can only remember the ones vs Olympiakos, Liverpool and Sunderland. Remember that game he had Liverpool, in his first season or the game against Stoke or Chelsea. He looked unstoppable.

Basically he saves what he should save and nothing more.

That's the pattern I've being seeing recently too, unfortunately.
